Site - Pruhonice
The charming village Pruhonice is situated close to the D 1
highway (E50, E65) Prague Brno, Exit 6, some 15 km southeast of downtown
Prague. For the exact location of the village see the map.
It is a quite place within reach of Prague's public transportation system |
The castle was established as a fortified Romanesque settlement in the 12th
century and was soon remodelled into a small Gothic castle. This in turn was
rebuilt into an enclosed Renaissance castle in the 16th century. At beginning of
the 19th century the castle was reconstructed in Empire style, and at the end of
the same century it underwent its last reconstruction, in so-called "Czech
Neo-Renaissance" style. The oldest preserved part is the small Romanesque
church.
The park was established in 1885, its present area is about 250 hectares with
about 40km of small roads or paths.

The Congress Centre was established in 1993 after the reconstruction of
buildings that had formed part of the estate of Count A. E. Sylva Tarouca.
It now belongs to the Research Institute of Ornamental Gardening and meets
all the basic conditions needed for meetings of a medium size, i.e. with
at most 200 attendees. The Centre is close to Pruhonice Castle, its
historic park and Dendrological Garden, which are landscape sites of
